MINISTRY

TAKE THE FIRST STEPS

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” Matthew 19:14

More “firsts” occur during the preschool years than any other time in a child’s life: first smile, first time to crawl, first steps, first tooth, first loose tooth…

It is our desire to walk with your preschooler as they take their First Steps toward Jesus. We want to partner with you and help make those first impressions of faith. Together, we can help lay a strong foundation of who God is so, when the time is right, your child will be ready to make the decisions to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

WE CARE FOR YOUR KIDS

The Diaper Bag

Send all necessary supplies in your bag including: diapers, wipes, bottles, and an extra change of clothes (for children who are not potty trained).

Labeling

Please label EVERYTHING with your child’s name: diaper bags, pacifiers, bottles, etc. Labels help us ensure your child’s items are returned and kept for their use only.

Feeding

  • Babies: Please send bottles of water and premeasured formula. A refrigerator is in Room 100 (Baby Room) for premade bottles. Let the teacher know on the information sheet you fill out if the bottle needs to be refrigerated and warmed. Babies will only be given what is in their diaper bag.
  • 1’s – K: Children receive a snack of goldfish crackers, butter flavored crackers, and apple juice, water, or flavored drink. Allergy Alert signs will be posted if another snack is offered. Always let your child’s teacher know of any allergies.
  • Nursing Room: A Nursing room is available in the Preschool Building for feeding and changing.

Promoting to new rooms

Babies and 1’s promote to older classes within the preschool year as they mature and develop in their abilities. Parents will be notified when Preschoolers promote to a new room. 2 year olds (as of September 30) and older promote annually (usually in August).

Big Church
Preschoolers are always welcome to worship with their parents but a separate worship is also provided for them during each worship service. When Kindergartners promote to 1st grade,  they bein going to “Big Church” with their family.

Kindergartners participate in a Worship Treasure Hunt to help prepare them to attend worship. Tools are also given to parents at this time to help make this transition an exciting time.

SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY

A computerized Check-In System is provided for Preschoolers (Babies-Kindergarten). Parents will receive three labels: one for the child, one for the teachers and one for parents to use when picking up their child. Labels are cross-checked before the child is released. Misplaced labels are available at the Children’s Welcome Desk.

Texting is our primary way to reach you if we need you during a service. We will send a message to the cell phone number that you write on your child’s sign in sheet. Please keep your phone on silent while in worship.

Health

For the safety and health of all children, pediatricians recommend that children be kept at home until free of the following symptoms for at least 24 hours.

  • Fever (free of fever without fever reducing medication)
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
